59th iMEP Tallinn
April 13-April 20
Welcome to the new e-ra of Europe.
The 59th international Model-European Parliament session in Tallinn marks a jubilee – 30 years of MEP. Furthermore, Estonia will celebrate 20 years in the European Union this year. This session will be held in the Estonian capital of Tallinn which has a rich history dating back to the 13th century with its old town being a UNESCO World Heritage Site and loved by tourists. Today, Tallinn is known for being the Nordic Tech Valley of Europe, paving an innovative way into the future.
Estonia, Europe, and the world as a whole are in the midst of conflicts that blur our view of a bright future. This is why Europe needs tangible policy to shape the European Union to be strong and sustainable and for it to stay that way. We need to support Ukraine and our allies with all that we have. In Estonia, you will be right on the doorstep of the European Union and NATO. We know what the price and value of freedom are and will never give it up.
In June, the European Parliament elections will take place. This is the most direct opportunity for us to choose the direction for Europe. This election will mark the start of the new e-ra of the European Union. We strongly believe that you are the changemakers of tomorrow. To implement change, you need to be a leader. Estonia knows a lot about taking the lead with digital innovation. Do not worry; we will teach you. This session will be one of a kind, with topics discussed in committees ranging from solving teacher shortages, EU-China relations, and cybersecurity risks to online harassment and accessible voting.
Furthermore, we will introduce masterclasses to this session so that you can gain knowledge about cybersecurity, e-governance, political campaigning, and building a company, which will help you gain experience to make a meaningful change in the world around you.
We hope the great ideas you write down in your resolutions will become real-life solutions.
On behalf of the presidency, I have the pleasure to welcome you to the iMEPs jubilee session of 30 years, and a week to remember in Tallinn.
