64th iMEP Oporto
November 19-November 26
Welcome note
Honourable Delegates, Esteemed Committee Presidents and Vice Presidents,
Teachers, Coordinators and Distinguished Guests of the 64th International Model
European Parliament session,
In just a few months, Porto will have the privilege of welcoming you to the 64th International Model European Parliament session from the 19th to 26th of November 2026 in Porto, Portugal. While much of today’s world is engulfed in conflict and instability, iMEP stands as proof that the future can still be built through diplomacy, cooperation, and the voices of young people who are determined to choose dialogue over division. We hope this session will be a space where those values come to life through meaningful debate, new perspectives, and connections that extend far beyond committee work.
Apart from developing well rounded resolutions, you will be able to discover Porto, a city where the Douro River meets the Atlantic and where our connection to the Ocean has shaped a spirit of curiosity, resilience and openness to the world. Porto was once a gateway from which explorers set sail to chart the unknown, and a place that continues to connect cultures, ideas and people. This host city reflects our shared belief that dialogue, discovery and collaboration remain the most powerful tools for building a better Europe. In a time of global uncertainty, your presence here is a reminder that progress begins with the willingness to listen, to question, and to act.
As Presidents, our aim is to guide and assist you, while collaborating with you in guaranteeing that debates function flawlessly and that every delegate has the opportunity to be heard. Yet our aspirations extend well beyond the committee room. Alike the 15th century explorers, we hope this session will be a platform for you to unravel new ideas and challenge old ones, all while meeting different people and forging friendships.
We encourage you to express your visions while respecting others’ values, together building on resolutions rather than competing for which one is the best. It is only with empathy, professionalism, and mutual understanding that we can empower future generations through a legacy of dialogue and belonging.
Kind regards on behalf of the Presidency of the 64th International Model European
Parliament,
Leonor Paz Dias, Martim Rebelo, Helena Pinto
