SUMMARY:63rd iMEP Szeged/Budapest
DESCRIPTION:Welcome note by the presidencyThe Presidency is delighted to welcome you to the 63rd iMEP Session Szeged/Budapest\, and to warmly welcome you to Hungary. It is a great honour for us to host this session and to meet such a motivated and diverse group of delegates. We hope that during your stay you will experience not only the spirit of iMEP\, but also the warmth and hospitality for which Hungary is known. \nThis year\, the session will take place across two remarkable Hungarian cities\, with Szeged taking a central role in our program. Situated in southern Hungary\, close to the borders of Romania and Serbia\, Szeged has long served as a bridge between nations\, cultures\, and ideas. Its location highlights Hungary’s place at the heart of Central Europe\, and the city itself is a gateway for understanding regional cooperation and European interconnectedness. \nSzeged is also one of Hungary’s most important university cities\, renowned for its academic excellence\, vibrant student life\, and culture of innovation and research. The city embodies the charm and splendour of a Central European university town\, where intellectual curiosity meets creativity\, and tradition meets progress. During our session\, we will be welcomed into historic venues that reflect this rich heritage\, including the Votive Church of Szeged\, the city’s iconic cathedral\, and the Szeged Synagogue\, the largest synagogue in Hungary and a landmark of European cultural diversity. These spaces will serve as the backdrop for our discussions\, reminding us of the enduring values of dialogue\, cooperation\, and respect that shape Europe. \nBeyond its cultural and academic significance\, Szeged is also a dynamic economic hub. The region hosts key automotive industries and participates in international trade corridors\, including those connected to the modern revival of the Chinese Silk Road. These industries and international links are not abstract—they are a living example of Europe’s economic and technological challenges\, which are directly reflected in several of the committee topics you will debate during this session.\nAnd of course\, Szeged is famous for something uniquely Hungarian: its paprika\, widely celebrated as the best in the country. This culinary tradition reminds us that European identity is shaped not only by institutions and policies\, but also by local heritage\, regional pride\, and the everyday life of its citizens. \nThe Model European Parliament is founded on the idea of educating young people\, encouraging critical thinking\, and creating a space where devoted young citizens of the European Union can exchange ideas and develop their political skills. iMEP is a platform where dialogue\, cooperation\, and mutual respect are at the heart of every discussion. \nDuring this session\, delegates will take part in in-depth debates on issues currently shaping the European Union. Through structured discussion and exchange of ideas\, participants will explore different viewpoints\, develop well-founded arguments\, and work together to better understand the challenges Europe faces today. The goal is not only to express individual perspectives\, but also to foster cooperation and guide participants towards building shared solutions within the European decision-making process. \nBeyond committee work\, iMEP is about people. It is about forming friendships\, strengthening connections\, and creating a supportive and inspiring community. Many of the relationships you establish here will last long beyond the session\, becoming valuable personal and professional connections for the future. \nWe look forward to sharing this meaningful experience with you and to welcoming you to an unforgettable iMEP session in Szeged and Budapest\, at the heart of Central Europe. \nKind regards on behalf of the Presidency\,\nViola Kalmár\, Zsombor Harai and Dániel Krámos\nPresidents of the 63rd iMEP Szeged/Budapest \nViola Kalmár Zsombor Harai Dániel Krámos TeaserFor privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded. February 2025 \nDear participants of the Model European Parliament\, \nIt is a great pleasure to welcome you to the premises of the European Parliament in Strasbourg to such an important event like the Model European Parliament. It is much more than just an educational programme – it is a training ground for the future leaders of Europe. Over the next few days\, you will step into the roles of Members of the European Parliament\, immersing yourselves in what democracy truly means. \nThis is not merely a simulation\, but a call to action. Democracy thrives when young voices are heard and included\, and your engagement today lays the foundation for meaningful contributions tomorrow. The European Union itself is built on the core values of dialogue\, cooperation\, and mutual understanding – all of which you are actively practicing here. \nThe work of the European Parliament and its members depends on young people like you who value democratic principles and are willing to engage in European discourse. Your voices matter\, and your participation today contributes to shaping the Europe of tomorrow. \nI encourage you to take full advantage of this opportunity to exchange ideas\, challenge one another\, and build bridges across borders. Europe’s future is in your hands\, and I have no doubt that you will shape it with passion\, responsibility\, and dedication. \nThank you for your commitment\, and I wish you an inspiring and constructive session. \nYours Sincerely\, \nSabine Verheyen \nFor privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded. For more details\, please see our Privacy Policy.I AcceptWelcome letter from the presidency\nHonorable Delegates\, esteemed committee presidents\, teachers\, coordinators and distinguished guests of the 61st international Model European Parliament Session\,\nWe are absolutely excited to welcome you to Strasbourg and Kehl\, Germany and France and therefore the first session to simultaneously be held in two countries. In the framework of the European Union\, this session with its two hosts holds extraordinary historic value. It roots in the deep bond\, forged between two nations\, divided by language and culture but united by the idea of peace and a spark of friendship. Thus\, we hope to equally create friendships and mark the significance of an international peaceful human cohabitation\, especially in turbulent times. Your involvement\, your ideas and your participation will pave the way for a stable future in our communal European home. \nIn the beating heart of this European peace and integration endeavor\, in the Council of Europe and the European Parliament\, you will be engaged in tackling some of the most burning issues of our times by debating and exchanging views as a representative of a European civil society\, undoubtedly a challenging yet inspiring opportunity. We are certain that you\, in any role you will be involved in will be able to contribute your ideas and suggestions for a better future. From the committee meetings to the plenary session\, you will find many opportunities to discuss your ideas and solutions\, gain new insights\, and care about sharing the opinions about our future of everyone at the negotiation table. \nFurthermore\, both French and German culture will be shown and taken part in. The “capital city of Europe” with its beautiful ancient edifices like Strasbourg Cathedral will melt together with Franco-German Carnival traditions predominantly from the German Rhineland and Swabian areas. \nWe assure you that you will acquire a skillset which is remarkably useful for your future life. Besides rhetorical skills and social competence you will get to know the ways in which the European Parliament works\, meet like-minded young people who most likely will become your friends. \nWe urge you therefore to appreciate this opportunity to actively confront the problems of our time by discussing with an open mind with others and taking every single opinion into account\, ready to find that common ground\, the perfect compromise on any European issue. \nGive your best and create everlasting memories\, international friendships and pioneering and trailblazing solutions for your\, and our and the future of every European. \nOn behalf of the Presidency\nLinus and Eva and Clemence \nDownloads\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Resolution Booklet - SUMMARY:60th iMEP Athens
DESCRIPTION:Honourable Delegates\, Esteemed Committee Presidents\, Coordinators and Teachers\, \nWe are thrilled to welcome you to the historic city of Athens for the 60th International Session of the Model European Parliament! The Birthplace of Democracy provides the perfect backdrop for our convention where young minds from across Europe and beyond will come together to debate\, collaborate\, and shape the future of our continent. This session marks a significant milestone in the history of the MEP\, and we are honoured we will have each of you contributing your unique perspectives and ideas. \nWhile in Athens\, you will have the chance to visit remarkable historical sites that date back millennia and immerse yourselves in the Hellenic heritage and culture. Most importantly\, however\, those participating as delegates and committee presidents\, will engage in rigorous discussions\, develop innovative solutions to pressing issues\, and build lasting connections with fellow delegates. Your role is crucial\, and we are confident that your contributions will have a lasting impact because what you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others. \nWe are positive that this session has the potential to spark a passion in you regarding various matters that you will have to discover yourselves. Whether that has to do with your future\, the people you meet\, stepping out of your comfort zone\, contributing to the successful function of democracy or\, most importantly\, letting your voices be heard throughout Europe\, we are eager to see you bloom in what we have prepared for you. \nWe encourage you to fully embrace this opportunity\, to challenge yourselves as well as each other\, and to approach every debate with an open mind and a collaborative spirit. The diversity of thought and experience that you bring is what makes MEP such a powerful and enriching experience. MEP is the kindling of a flame which has potential\, and we are here to assure you that we will ignite that flame to flare up! \nWe are both positive that you will give it your all to make this session one of the most memorable weeks of your lives! \nOn behalf of the Presidency\, \nEva Margariti\nPresident of the 60th iMEP session \nParis Tsoumanis\nPresident of the 60th iMEP session \nFollow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookParticipating countries\nFor privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded. SUMMARY:59th iMEP Tallinn
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the new e-ra of Europe. \nThe 59th international Model-European Parliament session in Tallinn marks a jubilee – 30 years of MEP. Furthermore\, Estonia will celebrate 20 years in the European Union this year. This session will be held in the Estonian capital of Tallinn which has a rich history dating back to the 13th century with its old town being a UNESCO World Heritage Site and loved by tourists. Today\, Tallinn is known for being the Nordic Tech Valley of Europe\, paving an innovative way into the future. \nEstonia\, Europe\, and the world as a whole are in the midst of conflicts that blur our view of a bright future. This is why Europe needs tangible policy to shape the European Union to be strong and sustainable and for it to stay that way. We need to support Ukraine and our allies with all that we have. In Estonia\, you will be right on the doorstep of the European Union and NATO. We know what the price and value of freedom are and will never give it up. \nIn June\, the European Parliament elections will take place. This is the most direct opportunity for us to choose the direction for Europe. This election will mark the start of the new e-ra of the European Union. We strongly believe that you are the changemakers of tomorrow. To implement change\, you need to be a leader. Estonia knows a lot about taking the lead with digital innovation. Do not worry; we will teach you. This session will be one of a kind\, with topics discussed in committees ranging from solving teacher shortages\, EU-China relations\, and cybersecurity risks to online harassment and accessible voting. \nFurthermore\, we will introduce masterclasses to this session so that you can gain knowledge about cybersecurity\, e-governance\, political campaigning\, and building a company\, which will help you gain experience to make a meaningful change in the world around you. \nWe hope the great ideas you write down in your resolutions will become real-life solutions. \nOn behalf of the presidency\, I have the pleasure to welcome you to the iMEPs jubilee session of 30 years\, and a week to remember in Tallinn. \nEmma KruusmäePresident of the GA of the 59th international session of the Model European Parliament in Tallinn\, Estonia Fellow Presidents Lotte Tõnupärt and Kennet Puiestee Follow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookImpressions\, photos and videos\n14.04.2024\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load More15.04.2024\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load More15.04.2024 – Opening ceremony\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load More16.04.2024\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load More17.04.2024 – Masterclasses\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load More18.04.2024 – GA Day 1\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load More19.04.2024 – GA Day 2\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load MoreClosing ceremony\n\n \n \n \n \n Loading the next set of gallery items...Load MoreVideos\nFor privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded. SUMMARY:58th iMEP Prague
DESCRIPTION:Title photo by Alex Drop\, released under CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 \nHonorable delegates\, committee presidents\, coordinators and all whom this letter may concern\, \nAs you are all certainly keenly anticipating\, the 58th International Model European Parliament is upon us\, this year held in the magical city of European heritage\, Prague. A city bridging the gap between Western and Eastern Europe\, holding a deeply woven cultural background of cuisine\, folklore and architecture. You are all sure to experience the beautiful place we call home first hand\, when you arrive\, in November. Whether it’s the view from Malostranské náměstí\, that oversees the bank of the Vltava river\, or gazing up at the 15th century astronomical clock erect over the old town square\, you are sure to be left speechless at the beauty of this historical city. And surely\, no less enticing than the towering Prague castle\, overlooking the Vltava river which runs through Prague like the lifeblood of the city\, the MEP session itself. Visiting places of Czech parliamentary proceedings\, stepping into the shoes of policy makers\, you will spend a week tackling the relevant political questions\, equally challenged by the European Parliament\, the EU Commission and the Council themselves. Of course it is necessary\, that coupled with the right amount of desire and passion\, you come adequately prepared and informed on the topics of your choosing. To guide you through this\, your committee presidents will prepare  preparation materials from which you will be able to draw relevant information. It is of the upmost importance however\, that you do not rely solely on the documents provided as your sole source of knowledge. Dive deep into the rabbit hole\, be creative in your resolutions\, think outside the box and in times of lesser motivation\, think back to the reason you applied for the MEP. Maintain your passion and ambition throughout the session and during all preparation steps preceding the session. Always keep in mind the importance of these sessions\, not only to developing yourself as future leaders of Europe\, but as a voice of solution to current global problems: a youth think-tank\, fuelling the machine of innovation with potent and creative ideas. European ideas for global problems. \nOn behalf of the entire presidency\, we are delighted to host the 58th international session of the Model European Parliament in Prague\,  the capital city of the Czech Republic. We look forward to an unforgettable week of fruitful debate and consensus finding as well as of intercultural exchange. \nSincerely\, \nDominik Hill \nFollow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookSession Documentation Film\nFor privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded. SUMMARY:57th iMEP Brussels
DESCRIPTION:Honorable members of the Model European Parliament\,\nIt is a great honour and pleasure for me to welcome you to the 57th international session of the Model European Parliament. \nWelcome to my home country Belgium\, welcome to our capital Brussels but also to yours\, as the home to almost all the EU institutions\, European schools and EU organisations it is also the European capital. Believe me\, there is no other place where this can be felt and experienced every day all year round. \nAt the same time\, Belgium and Brussels are challenged more than ever trying to show to the world that it is true what is said about Europe being united in diversity. It is what makes political life\, the participation in democracy and parliamentarism a life occupation for young or old in this country\, covering all the tiers from local to European. Equally\, understanding the European Union too is a long path of exploration and discovery one cannot start early enough. Whereas in decades the international sessions of the MEP were hosted by national parliaments and institutions\, this time you are going to experience the European Parliament and its EU parliamentarians as the hosts and partners for this conference. This is what we are trying to achieve with the MEP meets MEP programme\, the MEP delegates meeting the Members of the European Parliament and exchanging views on the most burning issues facing Europe and the world. Also\, for the first time we are giving you the opportunity to see and learn how the three major EU bodies\, the Council\, the Commission and the European Parliament collaborate in the interest of all EU citizens and shape Europe’s role as a global player tackling world problems and conflicts. \nDespite our differences\, we will be working together as one\, consensually trying to solve the problems outlined in the committee issues and making plans for the future. But believe me\, that is not the only thing you will be doing this week. You will be meeting lots of new people from all over Europe\, hearing stories about other countries and getting to know Belgium’s beautiful capital\, Brussels\, the home of chocolate\, beer\, waffles\, the Red Devils\, comics\, the Smurfs\, Asterix\, Tin Tin\, the famous cyclist Eddy Merckx\, artists like Stromae and Angèle\, and world-known sights like the Atomium. \nLet this be the start of a new adventure\, new friendships\, new interests. After all\, we are the next generation of future leaders. \nTogether with my fine team of experienced vice-presidents from Austria\, the Czech Republic\, Germany and Slovakia we look forward to working with you. \nWelcome all to Brussels\, the heart of Europe \nLowie Bodson\, President of the General Assembly of the 57th international session of the Model European Parliament \nFollow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookDownloads\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Committee Issues - SUMMARY:56th iMEP Sofia 2022
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Sami C\, CC BY 2.0 \nHonorable Members of the Model European Parliament\,\nIt is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 56th international Model European Parliament session in Sofia\, Bulgaria. \nWe are honoured and very pleased to host and be part of this event. MEP gives the great opportunity for the youth of Europe to speak to the world and their opinion to be heard. \nWith the strong belief that truth is born in the constructive dispute and conversation we hope that this session will see a lot of opinions and good points. That is why we strongly encourage you to participate and not fear to speak\, share\, discuss\, and ultimately- grow as individuals and as a team. \nGiven the hard time we live in\, this year there will be a lot of difficult and sophisticated issues. But with hard and thorough work\, everything is possible. \nBulgaria\, the oldest country in Europe with history of more than one thousand and three hundred years\, is waiting for you. Land where states and cultures have met for thousands of years. \nThis MEP-session\, like previous ones\, will bring you the opportunity to engage in meaningful debates and getting to know people from all over Europe. We strongly encourage you to take every opportunity to express your beliefs and participate as much as possible\, experiencing new cultures is an incredibly valuable experience and we urge you to talk to as many peers as you can. Sharing and expressing your ideas is fundamental to make the session a success. The MEP is a platform where democracy\, freedom of expression and diversity is cherished\, young people are offered a unique place to experience these values and be impacted by the discourse. We have both participated in multiple sessions and always return home with a feeling of warmth and european solidarity. MEP has widened so many perspectives and we look forward to seeing you engage in this important event. \nWe wish all of you a great session\, full of new experiences and acquaintances! \nThe Presidency \nKarina Tsvetkova\, Paula Pongratz\, Kyriaki Pantazi\, Boris Angelov and Frederik Haegerstrand \nFollow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookDownloads\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n iMEP Sofia 2022 Resolution Booklet | 438.57 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Country Committee Allocation Sofia22 | 150.50 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Committee Issues Sofia22 | 310.58 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Programme Sofia22 | 216.54 KB\n \n Download

SUMMARY:iMEP Bucharest 2022
DESCRIPTION:Honorable Members of the Model European Parliament\,\nIt is an honour and with utmost pleasure we warmly welcome you to the 55th international session of the Model European Parliament in Bucharest. \nWelcome to Romania\, home to breathtaking nature\, diverse cultural heritage\, rich legends and history and a modern digital highway. And if that is not enough to convince you that you are on your path to the right place\, we are more than delighted to meet you in person in our hometown and proud capital of Bucharest. \nDuring the challenging times we are living in – with a war on European soil and a pandemic hopefully on its last stretch – we find ourselves having to adapt quickly to a fast changing environment. This time though\, after three online iMEP sessions\, we are thrilled finally to meet you face-to-face for a productive conference. \nThis year’s session coincides with the European Year of Youth – an EU initiative that gives the opportunity to young people around the Union to actively participate in shaping a better future for Europe. The European Year of Youth objectives could not align more with the vision of the Model European Parliament: creating a place for young people to share and exchange new ideas\, discuss possible solutions to pressing issues\, and pave the way for a bright European future. \nAs delegates\, you will immerse yourselves into a number of current burning issues and will gain a better understanding of the decision-making processes of the EU. \nWe strongly encourage you to make the most of this session and participate as much as possible. After all\, it is your ideas\, suggestions\, and positive attitude that will make this meeting a big success and will contribute further to European integration. \nRomania is proudly looking forward to seeing you. We assure you that we will try our best to relaunch the bright streak of physical international sessions and host you in the best conditions. \nWe are looking forward to seeing you all soon in May! \nThe Presidency \nLuca Drujinin and Lucian Vineticu \nFollow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookDownloads\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Students Programme (Draft) - Bucharest 2022 | 300.29 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Committee Country Distribution - Bucharest 2022 | 331.09 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Committee Issues - Bucharest 22 | 423.43 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n\nFact Sheets\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n ITRE Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 508.99 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n DEVE Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 300.09 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n ECON Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 335.29 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n AFCO Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 322.50 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n ENVI Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 299.73 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n SEDE Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 528.51 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n CULT Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 757.06 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n EMPL Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 351.06 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n INTA Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 299.33 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n DROI Fact Sheet - Bucharest 2022 | 332.39 KB\n \n Download

SUMMARY:digiMEP Germany 2021
DESCRIPTION:Honorable Members of the Model European Parliament\,\nThe presidency wants to welcome you warmly to the 54th international Model European Parliament session and the third and hopefully last digital one.  \nAt the Model European Parliament\, you have the opportunity to look behind the scenes of political processes and to experience in a hands-on way how the European Parliament decision-making process works. In the committees you will get to discuss the most current issues of EU politics\, such as EU – China relations\, the future use of AI or the protection of women online to name a few. It is a once-in-a-lifetime chance as a young person to shape the future EU\, so getting seriously involved will mean leaving your comfort zone and giving your best\,. You will see how it will pay off! \nEven though this iMEP session will once again be held online\, we want you to appreciate the number and variety of smart and politically engaged youth delegates that will joining this event from all over Europe. You will be able to get to know people from almost every country in the EU\, some candidate countries and European partners. Use this opportunity to engage in exploring different cultures and enjoy making new friends. You will also learn what it means to bear responsibility. You are responsible for your actions and the outcome of your resolution. You are in charge of the words you choose in drafting the resolution and how you will be going to make compromises in the decisions of your committee. Besides your own responsibility\, the responsibility for your country you are going to get to know as well as the responsibility for the European Union. We always say the youth is the future of tomorrow and that is completely true. The sternness of this statement should not only reach you honorable delegates and participants but also the older generations involved in politics. So please bear in mind that the MEP will give you the opportunity to voice your ideas and opinions and demonstrate responsibilty towards the European Union at large. \nWe are aware of the fact that we cannot in a digital session spread the same cultural and social atmosphere of a real physical meeting but can assure you that you are going to experience German culture\, European liaison and personal bonding in a way you will thoroughly enjoy. \nWe will turn into a lively\, buzzing community with many outstanding discussions and extensive knowledge transfer. We will have a history together and no doubt share each other’s company in a not too distant future. \nWith these words the presidency warmly welcomes you all to the hopefully last virtual session of the Model European Parliament\, which thanks to you will be one to remember. \nThe Presidency\, \nCedric Otto and Siska Lüdeling \nGermany \nFollow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookDownloads\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Resolution Booklet - digiMEP Germany 2021 | 438.54 KB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Programme (digiMEP Germany 2021) | 265.81 KB\n \n Download

SUMMARY:digi iMEP Austria
DESCRIPTION:Honorable members of the Model European Parliament\,\nThe presidency of the 53rd international Model European Parliament session welcomes everybody warmly to Austria\, in the heart of Europe. As this session will take place online\, the whole country will be hosting this event rather than Vienna on its own. Considering this\, the country of culture and tradition\, alpine landscapes and skiing invites you to this digital iMEP event! \nAustria has always been a perfect place for discourse and negotiations putting herself in the service of all European countries\, as it did not only with the Congress of Vienna but also during the Cold War as a neutral state between eastern and western Europe. Nowadays\, it is a proud member of the European Union and the only EU member state also to host OPEC\, the OSCE and one of the four UN headquarters in the world. Nuclear arms control and monitoring as performed by the IAEA is a daily challenge met here in Vienna. Thus\, Austria has evolved as a natural bridge of diplomacy between Europe and all other parts of the world in tackling global crises. \nLast year\, MEP-Austria took the lead in digitizing our international MEP session as we couldn’t travel due to the Covid-19 imposed lock-down restrictions. Our concept of combining several teleconferencing software solutions and adapting our formal MEP procedures to this new reality helped us to take the next step and become independent from physical meetings and their limitations. In the same way\, as the European Parliament adapted to this new situation\, we\, the Model European Parliament\, managed to adapt as well. In the meantime\, several national MEP sessions have been done purely digitally and now we are already holding our second international digital iMEP. \nDespite this session being online\, the fundamental MEP purpose remains: it is a unique opportunity for all participants to discuss EU key topics. Today’s youth form the governments and countries of tomorrow. Therefore\, it is crucial to deal with the top political issues we face today and develop the mastery of a fair compromise through negotiation to ensure cooperative yet fruitful discussions. Hence\, MEP enables the experience of what free speech combined with multiculturalism can look like\, both aspects that are not self-evident in politics today. \nSome of the difficulties the European Union faces today put the purpose of it to the test: delegates will put forward resolutions on subjects such as the industrial revolution 4.0\, TTIP negotiations with the USA\, the European enlargement policy for the Western Balkans and a strategic partnership with Africa. Keeping in mind that the EU does not only solve existing problems but also takes measure in order to prevent them\, some committees concern long-term objectives as well. \nHistory has taught us that new innovative political\, economic and social ideas have always emerged during a crisis. We are now living through such a crisis and it is our generation that is strongly affected by it. Europe must again reinvent itself to emerge from this pandemic stronger than it has before. The Model European Parliament\, the platform where young Europeans can live the values of human dignity\, freedom\, democracy\, equality\, the rule of law and human rights\, is the perfect medium to lead the European spirit of innovation. Keeping in mind our European roots and humanist values\, our generation now has the chance to plan and shape the future of a new Europe. \nWe look forward to welcoming you to Austria\, in person as of 2022. SUMMARY:digiMEP Sweden 2020
DESCRIPTION:the session’s Resolution Booklet is now available for download. Please scroll down to the Downloads-section to get it!\n\nInnovation I Sustainability I Development\nIt is a great honor for me\, on behalf of the Presidency of the 52nd session of the Model European Parliament\, to welcome you. \nIn the wake of the CoVid 19 pandemic we unfortunately have had to cancel the physical session scheduled for Stockholm\, Sweden in March and November. Instead a first-time online conference is taking place embodying what this European meeting wishes to focus on. \nThe Model European Parliament is a place for innovation. It is a forum where young Europeans can test their opinions while developing new ideas on European issues. The divergent perspectives of the delegates fuel the creativity needed to find innovative solutions to our common challenges. Europe is in great need of such innovative solutions\, as it is evident that much of our current practices will not sustain the development of future generations. We are entering a new decade with rising mistrust of governing institutions and the climate crisis in full swing. Only open and dynamic environments like MEP can foster future sustainable governance and climate policies in our increasingly interconnected continent. \nMy home country Sweden embodies the Model European Parliament’s spirit of innovation. Its capital Stockholm has generated over 20\,000 tech businesses\, and only Silicon Valley outperforms the city in terms of billion-dollar start-up companies. The city also exemplifies the notion that innovation must further sustainable development\, being the first-ever European Green Capital and offering a world-class public transportation system\, run on 100% biofuel. I hope that Stockholm’s commitment to innovative and sustainable development will inspire consideration of our shared responsibility for the future throughout the session. \nI encourage you to come to the digital MEP session unafraid of thinking outside the box. Thus\, propose something new in the committee meetings\, raise an unconventional point in the General Assembly. Likewise\, let others improve\, criticize\, and modify your ideas. The diversity of the participants’ perspectives will then not only act as an accelerator of innovation but also as a rooting mechanism – making sure that your solutions will stand the test of time. Let your debate reflect the intercultural aspects of innovation and sustainable development. \nThe Presidency warmly welcomes you to the 52nd international session of the Model European Parliament – digital.– Clara Falkenek \n\nHonorable Members of the Model European Parliament\,\nI warmly welcome you to the first digital Model European Parliament session! \nThis MEP is truly different than any other that has taken place in the past. The Covid19 pandemic impacted all of us this year and didn’t leave anybody unaffected. It became a challenge\, not only to the way we were living but even an obstacle to a lot of our beloved activities\, like our MEP sessions. \nIn February\, it became clear that it would not be possible to organize an iMEP session in Stockholm in the traditional way. We had lockdowns all over Europe – nobody knew how the situation in autumn would be and if there would be a chance to organize the session later. \nInstead of just waiting for better times\, we accepted this challenge! Through months of hard work\, we created a solution that would allow us to meet and to be able to discuss again\, to find solutions for the European political and societal issues\, without the need for physical meetings. We used the experience we had gained with ZOOM and Microsoft TEAMS during the first lockdown in Spring and developed a new MEP session concept. We managed to transform the MEP’s physical dependent procedures and the way we were doing the related intensive debates in such a way that they can be done in a fully functioning digital environment. This concept was then tested a month ago here in Austria with a MEP meets SCHOOL session done together by two Austrian schools\, and it was a complete success. All these efforts are allowing us now to organize the international MEP using this new approach. \nWith this new concept\, we will be able not only to continue having MEP sessions during any kind of lockdown but once the crisis is over to have hybrid sessions as well\, which will incorporate the best of the physical and the digital world. \nThus the obstacle\, that was in the way finally became the way! We dealt with the challenge\, and by doing that\, we advanced further than we had been before! \nBy having the first digital international MEP we are writing history together\, and it will definitely be a great experience! \nPhilipp Markopulos\nAdmin President\nFollow us on InstagramFollow us on FacebookDownloads\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n SUMMARY:MEP Malta 2019
DESCRIPTION:MEP Malta Resolution Booklet | 1.42 MB\n \n Download\n \n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n \nYouth Resolutions European Solutions\nIt is with great pleasure that on behalf of the presidency of the 51stsession of the Model European Parliament\, I warmly welcome you to the tiniest state of the European Union\, Malta. \nThe MEP is a one-of-a-kind platform where democracy\, freedom of expression\, diversity and multiculturalism are cherished\, offering young people a tangible opportunity to experience these values. It is fascinating how such an event can deliver a unique impact on each participant\, regardless of nationality\, age or session participated in. We come together to solve the problems Europe faces today\, giving the continent the courage it needs and deserves. Having personally participated in a handful of MEP sessions\, I return after every session feeling grateful\, empathetic and enlightened to take this spirit back with me\, having widened my perspective of who the European truly is. \nThese are the emerging values that are desperately required in the contemporary European Union. Faced with climate change protests led by students\, a divisive migrant crisis and increased representation of Euroscepticism in the European Parliament\, the idea of an integrated Europe is in dire need of assistance. I can easily go on with this list and further give my opinion on each topic\, however that will be none other than your task when you finally arrive to Malta. \nMalta\, surrounded by sea in the heart of the Mediterranean\, will be the perfect host for the 51stMEP session; not only will you realize that our isolation from the rest \nof Europe is solely physical and not literal\, but it will also ground you in the reality of climate change and the need for sustainability. Apart from this\, Malta is the most recent country to implement voting at the age of sixteen in all elections\, further adding on to our significance as a host for this European Union for youths. \nI promise you that Malta is the ideal place to inspire courage. Isolation and suppression meant being battered by constant bombings and massive starvation during World War II\, creating the perfect ground for heroism. Having been awarded the prestigious George Cross for this bravery\, the Maltese flag serves as a permanent reminder of what it is like to be truly courageous. \nThe Maltese showed everybody how it’s done\, I encourage you to come here and do the same. \nThus\, the Presidency warmly welcomes you all to the 51st session of the Model European Parliament in Malta. \nNigel Caruana (Malta\, President)

SUMMARY:MEP Paris / Strasbourg 2019
DESCRIPTION:Welcome note \nThe presidency of the 50th international Model European Parliament session welcomes everyone warmly to the city of lights and love\, our capital Paris\, and to Strasbourg\, home to the European Parliament and a dynamic city of western France. \nThis MEP\, as the previous ones\, should be a unique opportunity for each of its participants to discuss European burning issues : as today’s youth will form tomorrow’s actors of the EU\, willing to be aware of their peers’ matters\, it is essential to allow these future defenders of an even effectiver Europe getting used to a respectful and fruitful dialogue with other European citizens. Therefore\, the MEP is a precious experience of free speech and enjoyable multiculturalism when politics nowadays often betray such values by underlining mutual distrust in our Member States. \nNevertheless\, this highlighting reveals deep discrepancy between the EU’s goals and their achievement nowadays : both are to be challenged by this year’s delegates\, facing cases such as the refugee crisis\, terrorism\, economic tensions with major foreign countries\, social discrimination based on gender or ethnicity. This without forgetting that the EU doesn’t only resolve existing problems but prevents them and acts for progress\, as some committees will have to deal with environmental or urbanistic questions. \nTherefore\, Paris\, which hosted the Climate Change Conference\, which is deeply concerned by terrorism issues\, which considers the EU as one of its priorities since the last elections seems like a privileged place to understand how crucial these issues are. Furthermore\, our bustling cultural life and our worldwide famous romantic atmosphere will allow this MEP to be enriching as much as thrilling! \nThus\, the presidency warmly welcomes you all to the jubilee meeting\, the 50th international session of the Model European Parliament in Paris and Strasbourg. \nOn behalf of the Presidency\,  Nolwenn Da Cruz \nPRESIDENT \nNolwenn Da Cruz (FRANCE)

SUMMARY:MEP Toledo/Madrid 2018
DESCRIPTION:Welcome notedownloadsresolutionsWelcome note\nWelcome Note from the Presidency\nPepe López-Rúa Taboada \nIt is with great honour and sense of responsibility that I welcome you\, on behalf of the Presidency\, to the 49th International Model European Parliament Session. \nThere is no need for me to explain why the MEP is an important life lesson — as I believe the reasons for which one is attached to this experience change from person to person. If you ask me\, my time in MEP so far has entailed a great deal of personal and academic development. Finding myself surrounded by people with a readiness to engage and go the extra mile\, has further convinced me of how public service can effect change and touch on the lives of real people. \nBut perhaps most of all\, I have had the privilege to understand why a united Europe makes sense. Our common ways of seeing life\, our converging histories\, or the values we share\, explain and justify why European integration is a goal shared by so many. \nDespite the objective being clearly set\, it has become increasingly clear that the number of challenges that lie ahead are nothing short of daunting. The setbacks entailed by Brexit\, the refugee humanitarian catastrophe or the recent financial crisis\, with far-reaching social\, political and economic consequences\, have threatened the endurance of the European project. The changing landscape both inside and outside our borders\, with new powers ready to take our spot in the international arena\, requires a thorough analysis on our part on how to ensure the EU is able to convincingly respond to these challenges — never losing sight of what ways  can helps us to move ahead towards an even greater Union. \nMEP is the perfect opportunity for you to reflect upon what role you can play in the integration struggle. You will make long-lasting friendships and will meet people who will challenge your perspective on things in tremendous ways. \nI invite you to arrive in Spain with an open mind. Be willing to stick to your principles\, but not blindly. Defend with conviction what you believe in\, but be ready to concede to other perspectives when it is necessary to move on and make progress. And most importantly\, remind yourself that the MEP is an exercise in empathy: what solutions are expected from us? How can we reinforce citizens’ belief in the usefulness of a further integrated Europe? \nWhile you try to find the answers to these questions\, allow me to use a quote I came across in one my favorite movies: “Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check\, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay.” \nMay your participation in this 49th International Session of the MEP help to do just that. Not changing the world in a matter of days\, but at least ensuring that we can get there. One day\, soon enough. \nI wish you the very best during your time in Spain. I am absolutely convinced you will make the most of your stay. \nBest wishes\,   Pepe López-Rúa Taboada (President of the 49th iMEP session Toledo/Madrid) \ndownloads\n\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n MEP Toledo/Madrid 2018 Programme V7\n 1 file(s) 150.67 KB\n \n \n Download\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n MEP Toledo/Madrid Country Committee allocation\n 1 file(s) 127.03 KB\n \n \n Download\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n MEP Toledo/Madrid Committee Issues\n 1 file(s) 108.59 KB\n \n \n Download\n \n \n \n\n\n \n\n \n \n\n\nFact Files\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n ECON Fact File - SUMMARY:MEP Tallinn 2018
DESCRIPTION:Welcome notedownloadsprep modulesWelcome note\nThe presidency of the 48th international Model European Parliament session welcomes everyone warmly to the capital of chilly Estonia\, Tallinn. \nJust like Estonians themselves\, this letter will be brief\, sharp and to the point. \nThe MEP is a unique event in that it allows young people from all over Europe to find a platform in which to discuss issues that matter to all. In sharp contrast to how it is too often done in the press or on the streets\, differences are recognized\, but discussed with civility and respect. Thus\, not only does this project allow for a conversation that incorporates broad and disparate interests\, it helps foster a culture of dialogue\, mutual respect and peaceful conflict-resolution. In this particular time of isolated media-bubbles and uncompromising extremes on both sides\, the creation of such a culture is vital. \nCurrently\, Europe faces challenges both inside and out – relations with Russia\, internal instability\, secessionism\, the threat of terrorism and a rapidly changing economy. Those problems pose difficult questions about reconciling the EU-s commitment to its principles with the necessity for often unprecedented reform. We hope that this week’s discussions and debates will bring forward constructive and thought-provoking answers. \nFor all of the abovementioned goals\, whether they are creating a healthy dialogue or solving the age old dilemma of efficiency and liberty\, Estonia is the perfect place. The cold will keep you on your feet\, the dark humour will make sure you stay grounded in reality and our excellent and innovative IT-sector will make sure you are always well-equipped to deal with said reality. \nThus\, the presidency warmly welcomes you all to the MEP EST 18 session in Tallinn. \nOn behalf of the Presidency\,            Vikki Perijainen \nPRESIDENT \nVikki Perijainen (EST) In early November we will be gathering in Finland; the land of thousand lakes\, home of Moomin\, Santa Claus and Nokia\, the land of great education and in 2017 a birthday girl. In 2017 Finland celebrates the centenary anniversary of its independence. In 1917 after the October Revolution Finland gained its independence from Russia. Though independent\, Finland came to face with a bloody civil war in 1918 and later in the Second World War Finland had to fight for its independence against the Soviet Union. In the Cold War Finland came to be known for its close ties with the Soviet Union and the phenomenon Finlandization. \nNow in 2017 you´ll see a Finland that is a part of the global market. Thanks to the European Union\, which Finland has been a member of since 1995 and European integration\, Finland has come a long way from what it used to be. Being a part of the EU has enabled Finland to become a country facing outwards. \nNow the European Union is facing many challenges. On its way to ratification CETA is being discussed in parliaments all around Europe. How will we shape our relations with our North American partners? Negotiations with the UK will have started and the EU must find a solution with the UK that keeps some meaningful options open. No easy solutions are available\, but there is no choice but to carry on trying. The refugee crisis might have calmed down however it´s far from over and the root cause of it\, the Syrian Civil war has all but ended. The war itself has given rise to a multitude of problems: an increased amount of terror attacks that have lately brought suffering and fear to Europe. Issues regarding immigration from Africa are also to be dealt with as more and more people from sub-Saharan Africa will want to immigrate to Europe. The EU´s dependency on Russian natural gas is still a problematic issue especially now as there are plans to build Nord Stream II. These problems mentioned are just some of those the EU and we must deal with. And the EU´s ability to solve these problems is weakened by disagreements among member states. \nSome of these issues will be up for debate in the MEP FIN 17 session. You´ll get to prepare your resolutions\, lobby for them and in the General Assembly debate the resolutions and vote on them. \nHopefully you´ll all find solutions that everyone of you can get behind. I hope all of you are willing to take on the challenge presented to you with a lot of zest\, creative thought and will to participate in this unique youth European parliamentary event. \nAnd of course you will also meet lots of young people from around Europe. You´ll get to socialize\, share and enjoy Europe’s rich cultural diversity\, have fun together and work for a better Europe. \nOf course you´ll also get to see the lovely Helsinki\, though unfortunately it might be a bit dark and cold when we gather in Helsinki in November. The Maastricht Treaty gave birth to the European Union\, the Committee of the Regions\, the European citizen and the Euro. It meant a great step forward for European integration. 25 years later\, the EU has grown in almost every way and has more influence on our lives than ever before. All the more reason to make sure that knowledge about the EU is present in young people’s education. And what better way to do this than let them follow the footsteps of our European history? Let them feel what it is like to be a Member of the European Parliament and let them meet their real-life counterparts in Brussels! \nThe 7th of February 2017\, it is 25 years ago that the Maastricht Treaty was signed. This is a perfect occasion to invite high school students from 30 EU member-states and candidate member-states to come to the Netherlands for the International Session of the Model European Parliament. Furthermore\, this is the perfect occasion to ask young European citizens\nto look back and look forward\, to the future of Europe. Prior to the actual conference\, the MEP Green Paper Procedure invited young people all over Europe to express their reflections on ‘Europe in 25 years’ in a public consultation.

SUMMARY:MEP Berlin 2015
DESCRIPTION:The 43rd international session of the Model European Parliament will be held in Berlin from 8th to 15th November 2015\nYouth delegates from all EU member states and candidate countries will meet to debate and work on drafting resolutions on the burning issues of our decade: youth unemployment\, global warming\, an ageing society\, the wage gap\, education\, EU foreign policy and immigration. On the final two days of the session the Berlin House of Representatives will host the General Assembly\, giving the ten multi-national committees the opportunity to present and defend their resolutions. \nMEP Europe has invited delegates from the EU Member States and candidate countries to attend the session\, providing a venue for young Europe parliamentarians to explore areas of consensus on the issues of combating world hunger and poverty\, ISIS terror and radicalisation\, the increasing infringements on Civil Liberties\, the integrity of the European Union and promoting Green Power and future transatlantic cooperation (TTIP). \niMEP Berlin 2015 not only aims to embrace the moment to envisage ideas and answers to the kind of Europe we want to live in today and tomorrow but also wishes to share the celebrations of Berlin’s recent history of bringing down walls and as a starting point for building bridges across Europe. iMEP Berlin on behalf of MEP Germany looks forward to welcoming you to one of the most exciting capitals in the world. We hope to provide the ideal setting for you to send out a strong message from the youth of Europe\, the decision-makers of tomorrow. \nDownloads\n\nProgramme\nPresidency Welcome\nConference Booklet\nResolution Booklet
